Kaali Pujo Activity
- Pradip (oil lamps) being prepared to be lighted during the Festival of Light – Deepavali
- Finishing touch – to paint the Eye of the Maa (mother) – is being provided in the idol making factory at Kumartuli, Kolkata
- Bodhan & Adhibas (initiation of receiving) of the Maa (mother) is being made
- Pujo (worship) – offering of foodstuff and utilities, is being done in front of the idol.
- Clothes are being distributed among the poor along with Pujo (worship) activities as a part of social service.

- In the Mela (exhibition) firing at Balloons is tried by boys and girls alike. Family members and passer-bys are good observers.
- Mela (exhibition) of variety items also find its place during the festivals. This bubbling person is also part of the mela.
- Festive mood is essentially in the air. In such a mood, this child finds his own way of enjoyment.
- Interested civilians may provide traffic management services along with Police during the festivals at Kolkata.
- Cultural programmes of varieties, are also arranged along with Pujo (worship). Here Baul song is being presented.
- Festivals bring in general enjoyment in the mood of all – young & old. And some children make some essential activity their part of enjoyment – like here – making arrangement to light the Big Pradip.
- Beside policing during the festival, a more culturally minded Police-Personnel may find it interesting to try his hand at the Dhak.
- Along with Kaali Pujo & Deepavali, the Ganesh & Lakshmi are worshipped with a feeling of removing the inauspicious from our homes. Seen are idols being sold for house pujo.
- Dhak – Beating of the Drums are an essential part of the Pujo celebrations. The instruments as well as the tunes played are a speciality of Bengal.
- Aarati of the Maa starts with a Pradip (Lighted Oil Lamp). It is usually done with a feeling of doing service to the Maa.
- Taking the auspicious heat with due respect from the Pradip after Aarati of the Maa is made with it.
- It is usual custom to take the heat from the Pradip (oil lamp) after Aarati is made with it. It is believed to be auspicious.
- Aarati of Maa are done with several utility items. Fanning with the Peacock Feather is one.
- Dash Mahavidya – Ten forms of Kaali – are being worshipped by Ten Purohits simultaneously
- Dhaki (The Drum Beaters) being a profession, the children in the family are being trained and associated from a tender age
